a charity organisation run solely by volunteers for the
benefit of the community
who we are
Located in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, the Islamic Library
is a unique institution founded in 1999. A non-profit organisation run
by volunteers, our aim is to develop understanding of Islam among all
people, regardless of creed or familiarity with the religion.
knowledge
Acquiring knowledge is something which a Muslim is commanded
to do from the time they are born till they die. It is only through
the study of sacred knowledge can we begin to understand ourselves
and each other; and what it is like to be human.
The people of knowledge have left behind part of their knowledge
in the books we have today, so that we may learn and rise up out of the
ignorance we have surrounded ourselves in.
the need for change
Todays times are troublesome ones for the Muslims, most of which
is due to the lack of any proper Islamic education. Without doubt it is
a time for change. Reviving our great tradition is the only way in which
we can change ourselves and our communities.
islamic library
To realise this goal we have made accesible a service previously
unavailable in the region. We house over 3,000 titles available on loan
to the public including books, video, audio and multimedia. These cover
a wide cross-section of subject matter, ranging from the most basic information
through to advanced manuals and classical scholarly works. From childrens'
stories to history reference, we aspire to meet all our members' intrests
and needs. To maintain this level of service we are constantly reviewing
our stock.
This is our first step towards reviving
our Islamic Education in this region, With your sincere prayers and
effort we shall succeed!
